I’ve created a new blog Vannahair.blogspot.com. I prefer their format better, so I won’t be updating on wordpress any longer. All the info has been converted so everything is there. Don’t worry, it’s still easy to read.
Just a little update on my hair. Not much change since my relaxer (Nov 08). It’s been about a 7 weeks now. I have about an inch of new growth (check green arrow). I also decided to continue with the sew in w/o the net. I’ve been trying different methods, but all and all, the sew in last longer and I can nurture my natural hair better. When I was wearing a quick weave and a net, I couldn’t get to my natural hair but I made sure my hair was well moisturized before applying the weave. I did not experience breakage or anything, but like mentioned the sew is a better option for me.
I’ve use the Suave Humectant shampoo for two washes now. I love how it makes my hair feels and it really does moisten my hair. It’s amazing how using the right shampoo can make your hair. Though I love it, I want to still try the Cream of Nature shampoo. I used it for years as a teen and I really don’t know why I stopped lol. However, it was the old formula.
I’ve decided to try a sew in using a net. I must say that it’s so much easier and quicker than a sew in w/o a net. It also can last longer and of course it last longer than a quick weave using the glue. The good thing about using a net is that the braids don’t have to be tight and neat. If you can’t braid well, you may want to invest in the net. The video below is similar to how I do mine, of course the stylists is doing a neater job.
Here’s what I did, unlike the video I use a net that was already pre closed. I also leave about an inch of my hair out in the front (ear to ear). I rarely wear bangs.
So I’ve been using the Suave Vibrant Shine Shampoo for about 2 months, though I’ve seen some shine with it, it really doesn’t add moisture to my hair. Its job is to restore shine, so basically it’s stripping my hair even more. My hair needs moisture. I’m going to try the Suave Humectant shampoo. I hear that it’s really moisturizing.
As stated, I’ve been having a problem with my hair being frizzy. I use the Fantasia Ic, which is good, but it’s a little too heavy for me. I use Shae butter oil instead and the results were fabulous and very light. I’ve found the answer to my frizzes. You can clearly see the difference. Yes, I still have the added tracks in my hair. I was having a hard time blending it in, but you can see that the part that’s showing is my natural hair.
I normally do not wear majority of my hair out, but because I got a fresh relaxer not too long ago, I didn’t want to add any extra stress and strain to my hair. I added my extensions in a similar manner as the girl in the video. However, I didn’t have the nape of my hair out.
At first I added only three tracks to my hair, but after looking at this picture I added a fourth track to fill it out in the back.
