My Hair, My Way

img_1769The bun is another protective hairstyle that a lot of ladies like. It protects that ends of your hair and It keeps the hair from constantly rubbing against your clothes. Which can make it weak and brittle.

Sometimes finding the right products/regimen for your hair can be a pain. Stretching my relaxers has still been the major factor that helped me retain so much growth, my problem is finding products that is going to give my hair what it needs while still meeting my hair appearance satisfaction. I think I finally found the products that works for me. My regimen hasn’t really changed though.

The things that I’ve stopped using is: ORS pack (it makes my hair hard), drastically changed the amount of hair grease I put on my scalp (I use pure Shea butter/tea tree oil).

Products that I’ve added is Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave in conditioner, Suave Vibrant Shine Shampoo, and I started mixing Shea butter oil in my conditioner. Check “My Regimen” section to see the update.

Protective hairstyles are styles that protects your hair from breakage. Hair constantly rubbing against your clothes can cause brittleness, dryness, and eventually lead to breakage, especially the ends, being that the ends of the hair have been on the head longer. Some protective styles are braid outs, twist out, Bantu knots, banana clips, high ponytails, and of course weaves. I’m not wearing my natural hair out so my choice is hair weaves. One method I use is a sew in. I do it similar to the video posted below, except I prefer straight hair with layers. I normally braid 8-10 braids going straight back, but my hair is longer now and the braids are thicker. I may have to braid 15 braids next time.

Depending on how tight I sew in my extensions, it usually last 2 weeks to a month. I did my own sew in 3 times. Practice makes perfect.
