My Hair, My Way

sbs-425005 Okay, so I have a problem with my hair frizzing. Someone recommended this and it did extremely well. I put a small amount on my hair, flat iron it and it was a huge difference. (It’s kind of pricey, but a little goes a long way).

I love this product like crazy!! Pretty soon I will have the whole line. I finally bought this about 2 weeks ago and used it as a deep conditioner. I sat underneath the dryer with a cap on for about 20 minutes. When I rinsed my hair, it was so soft and felt like butter, literally. This is definitely a keeper.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Aphogee products, so I’ve decided to try the Pro Vitamin Leave In Conditioner. I love it and I will be using it as a staple product for a while.

I use TCB Lye Relaxer and it doesn’t come with a neutralizing shampoo. My brand of choice is Isoplus. I’ve been using the older kind for years, but I bought a trial size of the new type (see above pic). I haven’t tried it yet, but I will update my thoughts about it.

I know grease gets a bad rap, but I’ve been using it forever and my hair has still grown healthy. I don’t use it everyday, maybe every 4-5 days, my hair soaks up moisture. I DO NOT use a whole jar on my scalp at one time. I use a very, very, light amount. A jar probably last 6-7 months for me. I DO, mix the grease with Shea butter and tea tree oil.  I love Softee Coconut Oil and Castor Oil brand.

  • When it comes to my hair, my motto is keeping it simple. Applying tons of products to your hair is not going to make it grow any faster. I don’t do much to my hair, I leave it alone and let nature do it’s thing. Sometimes it can be very tempting to try a product or hair technique that others rave about. Every now and then it’s okay to experiment with a new product (if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have discovered my beloved V05 conditioner). If your staple products are working for you, it’s best to keep it. A daily routine does get boring after a while and some change can be good, but use good judgement. When I get bored with some of my staple products, I add some Shea butter oil in it.

As far as hair styles, I also keep it simple. Extensions allows me to try different textures. When I was a teen, I was a lover of the Wrap (not knowing that my hair at the nape wasn’t growing any longer due to the constant rubbing against my clothes). When I felt the need to switch up the wrap, I would either add two jumbo twist in the front, make a zig zap part, or add a hair accessory.

Since I’ve covered the basics (shampooing, conditioning, moisturizing), I’m going to post some extra products (check out “My Regimen” section to see how I use them) that I use daily. One main thing I do when looking for products is reading the ingredients. I tend to stay away from products that contain a lot of alcohol, which clearly will dry the hair.

I love Cantu Shea Butter leave in conditioner and oil sheen.

This recently became a part of my regimen. However, my hair grew well without using this. I use it after I wash and condition my hair. It does add moisture to my hair (it can be used on dry hair as well). I’m going to stop using it for a while (I’ll apply it to my ends only), mainly because I prefer to use a leave in spray rather than cream. When I start wearing my natural hair out, I’ll use it again. My motto is “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

Cantu Shea Butter oil sheen does exactly what the label says. I started using this in January 08 and was amazed at how light the sheen was. I go through a can of this very fast. I spray it on my scalp daily, my natural hair and weave, and it can be used as a heat protectant. The shine is wonderful and you don’t have to spray a lot to see it either. I became a Shea Butter Oil lover because of this oil sheen. It smells lovely, might I add.
